James L. Burton, Jr., 71, of Merrimack passed away on Thursday December 6th, 2018 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a period of declining health.

He was born on November 15, 1947 in Connellsville, PA to the late James L. Burton, Sr. and Ethel Cecilia (Haith) Burton.

James was a veteran from the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the Merrimack VFW Post 8641 where he served as Vice President for many years before stepping down and a member of the American Legion Post 98.

He was pre-deceased by a son, Jeremy Bakaian in 2015.

Surviving members of his family include his loving wife of 19 years, Jennifer (Tassie) Burton; four children, James L. Burton III, Justin Burton, Jonathan Bakaian and his wife Heather, and Angela Tassie; 8 grandchildren, Danielle, Alayja, Aliyah, Emily, Michael, Ava, Heavenly, and Evie, along with several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
